Farming Cover Work

a picture of some cows eating in a fieldThe Farming Cover Work service allows farming and livestock entrepreneurs the opportunity to recover from sickness or injury as well as better family and leisure time opportunities, improving their general work-life relationship.

Responsibility for the implementation is carried out by the Farmers' Pensions Institution (MELA). Operations are managed and supervised by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, with the municipalities acting as service providers, either alone or as jointly with other local areas.

The local agricultural exchange unit in Lempäälä organises cover work services for the 13 sections of the East Pirkanmaa region, namely: Akaa, Juupajoki, Kangasala, Kuhmalahti, Kylmäkoski, Lempäälä, Orivesi, Pirkkala, Pälkäne, Tampere, Urjala, Valkeakoski and Vesilahti.

The Farming Cover Work (in Finnish) section on the MELA website offers more details on the services available. The online service shows the total days used / available, as well as application forms for the service and membership to the MELA

When the electronic request has been submitted, a cover work replacement will be booked as soon as possible, and confirmation contact information will be sent. If the request can not be completed, contact will be made by telephone to discuss further options.
