Child Home Care Allowance

Home care allowance is paid for children under the age of 3 who do not attend municipal daycare. Home care allowance is also available for other children under school-age, so that the family can choose the private care / home help support that best suits the child. If a child is in a day care centre provided by the municipality, the home care allowance support is not available.

Support can be paid at the end of the parental benefit period, and is paid until the youngest child reaches three years of age, moves into municipal day care, or the family selects private care allowance.

The beneficiary must notify KELA immediately if the grounds for receiving the subsidy change, eg: the child moves into municipal day care.

The statutory home care allowance consists of a care allowance and a family allowance supplement, depending on circumstances.

Pälkäne offers a KELA / TE joint service point at Kostiakeskus is Tuesdays and Fridays, from 09:00 - 12:00 and 13:00 - 15:00. Please also use the KELA site to find out more information.
